Winnie W. S. MAK
Winnie W. S. MAK, PhD, is the director of the Diversity and Well-Being Laboratory and an Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Psychology Programs in the Department of Psychology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) as well as an Associate Professor (by courtesy) of the School of Public Health and Primary Care, CUHK. She is a clinical psychologist with a community focus. Her research interests are in the areas of stigma and well-being of social minorities, personal recovery of people with mental illness, mindfulness, and mental health promotion through e-technology.
Currently, she is conducting several randomized controlled trials on the effectiveness of web-based mindfulness and compassion-based interventions in promoting mental health and well-being to the general public, with the aims to disseminate innovative and evidence-based practices to the community. Winnie also has spearheaded several community initiatives in promoting social inclusion and reducing stigma of people with a range of mental and physical health conditions and other minority statuses. She is also at the forefront of transforming of mental health services to be recovery-oriented in Hong Kong.
